The Boston Marathon is a great event that deserves a proper car to lead it forward. INFINITI is proud that the 2019 QX50 had that honor this year. The luxury crossover began the race, just ahead of the runners.
This has been designated as a Year of Service by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA), the race’s traditional sponsor. INFINITI joined them in highlighting the good works of organizations and volunteers that serve people in need every day. The Semper Fi Fund was singled out for special recognition, and its volunteer Deb Kerr rode in the QX50 as it led the race.
The Semper Fi Fund takes care of injured military members. INFINITI donated $10,000 as part of its commitment to the BAA Year of Service.
Why was the 2019 QX50 a good pick for such a major marathon? The crossover is the first to have a VC-Turbo engine. Using variable compression ratio, INFINITI engineers have devised a powertrain that can regulate how much power it needs in a given situation. When you need to go faster, there’s plenty of horsepower. When there’s a challenge, a high torque rate sets the wheels in motion. However, when power isn’t needed, the engine knows how to cut back, preserving energy and fuel. It’s a good match for frugal owners and driving enthusiasts alike.
Engineers and designers have remade the QX50 with an all new architecture and a sleek aerodynamic exterior. Each nip, tuck and air inlet or outlet has a purpose that serves to make the vehicle more handsome and more wind resistant. The new look uses integrated doors to blur the lines between metal and glass on both sides. A higher stance raises the driver’s perch and provides 8.6 inches of ground clearance.
Another way the QX50 stands apart is through technology. The forward collision warning remains the only one with predictive capability. When a system can see further ahead, the driver has a better chance of avoiding a collision.
A new technology, the ProPilot, combines the forward collision warning and autobrake with the features of the lane departure system. On the interstate, the QX50 driver can call upon the system to do the driving. The lane keeper maintains the crossover’s trajectory while the cruise control slows down if traffic slows down. Of course, it also speeds up again when traffic allows. Only INFINITI has this futuristic technology on its crossovers today.

Electric car technology has really started to take off over the past decade or two, and there are now more hybrids and electric vehicles on the road today than ever before. Still, this trend seems likely to continue in the coming years as most automotive manufacturers continue to expand their lineup of fuel-efficient electric vehicles. That being said, INFINITI recently announced that it plans to take things even further by transitioning over to an all-electric lineup starting in 2021.

In mid-January 2018, INFINITI surprised the automotive world by announcing that, from 2021 on, all of its new vehicles would be electric. While some people took this to mean that the company would only produce electric cars after 2021, what the company actually stated is that all new models released in 2021 and onwards will feature an electric drivetrain. Nonetheless, this does not necessarily mean that the entire INFINITI lineup will be electric, as some older models will likely continue to be available with a gasoline-only engine for at least a few years.
Drivers looking for a fully electric vehicle should be able to get their hands on INFINITI’s first all-electric model sometime in 2021. In addition, the company plans on releasing a range of new gasoline-electric hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The name of the car company was chosen in 1987, and the logo symbolizes the name of the brand. The badge is designed with two lines that lead up to a horizon. It is even known to pay homage to Mount Fuji, which is Japan’s famous peak.
It can also be described as an upside down V and looks similar to a mountain or a road. The horizon is sentimental because the car brand aspires to new horizons in the automotive industry. INFINITI’s symbol was inspired by a lemniscate that dates back to the start of human civilization and has commonly been used by mathematicians. The metallic silver coloring of the logo is meant to appear modern and contemporary, which represents the cutting edge cars that continue to be released by INFINITI. Although Nissan is the parent company of INFINITI, the silver detailing symbolizes elegance and embraces the high-end design of each automobile.
The logo is unique among other automakers because the name of the brand is not included in the symbol, which allows it to look regal and minimal. Although some would assume that the car brand would choose to use the standard infinity 8 symbol for their logo, they may have wanted to avoid possible confusion with other brands that use the same symbol to represent their company.

The Scottsdale Arts Festival is coming back to the Phoenix area this month, starting on Friday, March 10, 2017.

In celebration of African Penguin Awareness Week, Scottsdale’s OdySea Aquarium will be hosting a special Penguin Party from October 7-15, 2017. Throughout this weeklong event, guests, including the little ones, will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of special activities honoring these unique aquatic birds.
During the aquarium’s Penguin Party, guests will have the chance to partake in a daily Penguin Parade, which starts at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekends. There will also be educational talks every hour, giving guests the opportunity to learn about penguins, and special penguin merchandise available at the OdySea gift shop. Additionally, penguin-themed photo opportunities will be available, as well as craft stations where people can decorate a paper penguin foot for $1. Proceeds will be donated to SANCOBB, a non-profit whose mission is to reverse the decline of seabird populations.

The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is set to deconstruct their popular “Ocean of Light: Submergence” exhibit at the end of this month, giving art fans in the area until September 24 to experience its magic. The installation has been wowing visitors with its plethora of LED lights since its arrival this past May.
Created by the U.K. collective Squidsoup, made up of Gaz Bushell, Liam Birtles, Chris Bennewith, Oliver Brown and Anthony Rowe, “Ocean of Light: Submergence” is an interactive light installation that encourages visitors to develop a complete understanding of data on a large scale. Referred to as a “live data ecosystem,” the exhibit incorporates flashing LED lights and sound to present an augmented reality that guests can fully immerse themselves in.
Art lovers from all across the Valley can come and view the exhibit any day during the week, aside from Mondays when the museum is closed. Admission is only $10 for adults, $7 for students and free for individuals ages 15 and under. Additionally, the museum offers free admission to the public on Thursdays and after 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
